In a world of “haves and have-nots,” it is not enough to want success, you must know how to be successful. In this meaningful address, Oduolowu explains to audiences that learning how to best utilize your talents allows you to free yourself of impediments that hinder growth—both personally and professionally. He explains the importance of reminding ourselves that success isn’t a finite point, but our own personal algorithm that we must employ every day. Furthermore, by applying the program that works best for us as individuals, we emerge better equipped to serve the whole of our varied ecosystems and habitats.

Words are incantations that can change the course of our lives as if a wizard cast a spell. The phrase, “choose your words carefully” have a deeper meaning than most of us understand. This applies to not only what we say, but what we listen to. Oduolowu explains the weight of words and how a simple turn of phrase can either lighten your spirit or crush your soul. This session shows the awesome power hidden in a carefully crafted comment, and more importantly, how to find the words to create them.
For CEOs and managers, this tool is akin to Ponce De Leon discovering the Fountain of Youth. When used correctly, speech will inspire employees, creating a motivated workforce with unlimited potential. In Segun’s world, MMA stands for Message, Messenger, Audience (not mixed martial arts!) “MMA” is Oduolowu’s core philosophy in media training. In this address, he shares his passion for educating and bettering audiences by unveiling his successful methodology of presenting information.
- Message – Think beyond the news: What is the core of your message? Why is it important? Who does it affect? Before presenting, any messenger must be prepared with these answers.
- Messenger – The task of the speaker is to show up prepared with one overarching purpose: to be understood. True understanding is comprised of many factors. Among them are appearance, knowledge, word choice, and flow. Messengers need to know how to craft a message that the audience can understand whether they are in the C-suites or the “mean streets.”
- Audience – Messengers must know to whom they are speaking. Each audience is unique, and audiences are always changing. The audience is the variable most out of control of the messenger and the one that demands the most attention. Speaking to a room full of CEOs requires a different method and delivery than a classroom of children. Knowing the audience allows the messenger to show up authentically.

Biography
Segun Oduolowu is the proud son of Nigerian immigrant parents. He’s a television host, entertainment journalist, and media personality currently hosting Boston Globe Today. Created in a partnership with NESN, Boston Globe Today is televised five days a week and published on globe.com. Prior to BGT, Segun was a correspondent for PEOPLE (The TV Show!), a nationally syndicated entertainment news magazine television show. In 2021, he executive produced “Protect or Neglect,” a documentary focused on police brutality and underserved communities for the Bounce television network.
Over the years, Oduolowu has appeared regularly on Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNN, NBC News Now, Revolt TV, Access Hollywood, and The Wendy Williams Show and has contributed to international programs for CNN and the BBC.
Oduolowu is also a former University of Houston basketball player, where he harnessed his belief that without commitment you’ll never start and without consistency you’ll never finish.
