Before joining CBS in 2022, Costa spent seven years as a national political reporter at The Washington Post, where he covered Congress, the presidency, and the rise of populist politics. He also co-authored the #1 New York Times bestseller Peril with Bob Woodward—an authoritative chronicle of the transition from the Trump to Biden administrations.

Known for his measured, nonpartisan approach, Costa was the moderator of PBS’s Washington Week from 2017 to 2021, earning widespread respect for his ability to navigate complex topics with clarity and depth.
