“Filmmaker and historian Ken Burns challenged the graduates of Washington University to get about the business righting the wrongs of America – racism and discriminatory practices against African Americans in particular – during his commencement address Friday.

Using an 1838 speech by future president Abraham Lincoln where he states that the death of America will come by suicide, Burns spoke of racism’s continuing legacy as a residual that prevents the nation from truly realizing its potential.”
