Former Vice President Mike Pence, a frequent Iowa visitor during President Donald Trump’s term, will return to Des Moines this summer.
Pence plans to address the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines on July 16. The Family Leader is an Iowa conservative Christian group and their events are a frequent stop for Republicans mulling presidential runs.
“From pastors, authors and entertainers to thought leaders and elected officials, the Summit’s star-studded lineups through the years are a recognition of the prominence Iowa plays in the national discussion and the unique stage the Summit provides to explore how faith impacts every sphere of life,” Bob Vander Plaats, Family Leader’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will also speak at the event.
The visits to Iowa, where Republicans plan to have their first 2024 contests, are repeat events for Noem and Pompeo. Each had visited the state in 2020 and Pompeo has also stopped in Iowa this year.
Pence spoke an event in New Hampshire, which holds the first primary in the nation, this month.
