The former Treasury secretary, through the Paulson Institute, has worked on linking the gap between the U.S. and China. Hu Jintao, China’s current leader, asked Henry Paulson to be his guide when he visited the New York Stock Exchange and Ground Zero. Forward to four years later, now Treasury Secretary, from a different view he was looking at the world’s second largest economy and fastest modernizing military. Unlike any foreigner, Paulson had dealt with China. When he was head of Goldman Sachs, he had an essential role in opening up China to private enterprise. The Strategic Economic Dialogue was created with the world’s second largest economy. He has negotiated on economic reforms with China, while safeguarding the U.S. financial system. Paulson has worked with many top Chinese leaders, like Xi Jinping.”
