Paul Polman and Andrew Winston developed the concept of ‘net positive.’ They define net positive as a company improving the wellbeing of everyone it touches through its operations, products, and services, including the planet, and thriving as a result. Corporate sustainability goals fall to the wayside too often, they say, as victims of a false choice between pursuing profits and ‘doing good.’ But companies that adopt net positive principles, they explain, deliver better results. In their 2021 book, Net Positive, Paul and Andrew provide compelling evidence and show how companies can profit by fixing the world’s problems instead of creating them.

Paul Polman is a business leader and campaigner. He works to accelerate action by business to tackle climate change and inequality. As CEO of Unilever (2009-2019), Paul demonstrated that business can profit through purpose, delivering shareholder returns of 290% while the company consistently ranked 1st in the world for sustainability. Today he works across a range of organisations to deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which he helped develop.

A prolific researcher into leadership, Wiseman distinguishes two types of leader. The first is the leader that considers him or herself to be the smartest person in the room. The second type of leader uses his or her intelligence to amplify the ideas and capabilities of the people around them – this leader is a “multiplier”. She explores the different leadership styles to demonstrate how multipliers can have a resounding positive and profitable effect, by developing talent and cultivating ideas and energy to create value and drive organizational change.

A former executive at Oracle Corporation she was vice president for 17 years, and global leader for human resource development, at Oracle University. A strategy and innovation thought leader, Kaihan helps organisations generate breakthrough ideas for transformation and long-term growth. In his book Outthink the Competition he explains that periods of radical change require a next-generation of business strategists – outthinkers – who step outside traditional paradigms to see new opportunities others ignore. He outlines 5 stratagems used by leading companies and the 8Ps Framework – eight dimensions of innovation. In his latest book, Proximity (with co-author Robert Wolcott) he explores the impact that technology will have on business models, talent, and ways of working, arguing that coming breakthroughs in just-in-time push the production and provision of value ever closer to the moment of demand.

CEO of Outthinker Networks, Kaihan combines practical skills and experience honed at McKinsey and Company with rigorous research and analysis of emerging trends. With a mother from Bangladesh, father from Germany, and wife from Latin America, he has lived on five continents and spent time in more than 70 countries.
