IKEA has launched a brand new mentorship programme with renowned portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Following the announcement of the partnership between IKEA and Annie earlier this year, the programme will offer five aspiring young photographers between the ages of 18-25 the chance to explore life at home through portraiture.
The winning photographers — selected from around the world — will be asked to interpret insights from the annual IKEA Life at Home Report through the lens of a camera. They will be offered guidance from Annie, as well as Marcus Engman, Creative Director of Ingka Group.
It has not yet been revealed how IKEA will share the final portraits, but the work of the mentees will feature as part of the conclusion to this Artist in Residence collaboration. Each photographer will also receive payment for their work.
Annie stepped into the role of Artist in Residence in January 2023, and is currently interpreting some of the most striking insights from the latest Life at Home Report.
‘Homes are created by the people who live there, shaped by the activities they love and their needs as individuals. Through this unmissable mentorship opportunity with Annie Leibovitz, we want to empower the next generation of photographers. We want them to see what magic can happen when they look to the home as a source of inspiration.’
