The IKEA+ exhibition aims to bring together creative environments, making big names and a large space for emerging talent in music, design and photography converge.
IKEA is coming to Paris Fashion Week: from February 29th to March 3rd, the brand will occupy number 28 Rue de Lappe, near Bastille, with the IKEA+ exhibition, which will host portraits that Annie Leibovitz captured during her tenure as IKEA’s Artist in Residence for the Life at Home Report project, presented during last year’s Milan Design Week. Additionally, portraits by six emerging photographers from the exclusive mentorship program conducted by IKEA and Leibovitz will also be on display.
The exhibitition is inspired by the fact that 48% of people globally do not feel represented in the media in their home life, a finding confirmed by the Life at Home Report, cyclically developed by IKEA to analyze contemporary living. The IKEA+ program will therefore revolve around self-expression and representation, blending the worlds of music, art, fashion, design, and home life.
Deciding to bring the rich Parisian music scene to IKEA+, IKEA has collaborated with the online radio station Rinse, famous for identifying new talents. Similarly, IKEA+ will also serve as a launching pad for six young emerging design talents, part of the educational program Casa93, based in Seine-Saint-Denis department.
Casa93 aims to surpass traditional training norms by offering free education without diploma requirements. Students Eva Louisa N’kie, Gitroïna Isaac, Ivann Halleur, Juliette Willemet, Loreny Tanda, and Raphale Nahon worked with IKEA home furnishing mentors to create six exhibitions focused on eco-design and upcycling.
IKEA will also present the TESAMMANS collection, born from the collaboration with the Eindhoven-based design duo Raw Color, which explores color interactions and the emotional effects of color at home, to help more people discover the positive effects of color in their homes.
