Biography
Mike Rowe is a television host, writer, producer, recording artist, and narrator. His career spans various platforms with a distinctive focus on the skilled trades, evident in his work as the host and narrator of renowned shows like Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” and “How America Works.” He is also recognized for his remarkable work in “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,” a series originally aired on CNN, and “Returning the Favor,” a series produced for Facebook. Rowe’s work is not confined to television hosting; he has lent his voice to numerous programs on channels such as Discovery, National Geographic and The Science Channel, and has a popular podcast called “The Way I Heard It.”
Rowe’s commitment to the skilled trades is further highlighted through his mikeroweWORKS Foundation, a non-profit organization launched in 2008, dedicated to granting work ethic scholarships. The foundation has so far awarded 11 million dollars in work ethic scholarships to 2,100 men and women. Alongside his philanthropic endeavors, Rowe has also been featured in commercials for companies including Ford Motor Company, Caterpillar, Federal Mogul and Kimberly Clarke.
Rowe’s achievements extend beyond his philanthropy and television career. He is an alumnus of Towson University, where he earned a degree in communication studies and became an Eagle Scout in 1979. He has received commendable recognition for his work, including the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and the Outstanding Host for a Daytime Program award at the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards. He was also named the Best Reality Show Host by the Critics’ Choice Television Award in 2011. Furthermore, Rowe has made remarkable appearances on shows such as Fox’s “American Dad!” and ABC’s “Last Man Standing,” showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry.
