The talk that Aaron Lazar gave at Duke University in October of 2023 for DEMAN (Duke Entertainment, Media, & Arts Network) Weekend was, simply put, the greatest and most impactful speech I have ever heard in my life. This sentiment was echoed by all attendees. When building out the schedule for DEMAN Weekend, Aaron suggested that his speech be the last event of the weekend, and I’m so grateful for that suggestion–there was not a dry eye in the house. There is no speech or event that could have followed Aaron’s. The vulnerability, strength, and resilience that Aaron exhibited in his speech were inspiring and powerful. Most of the compliments I received from attendees for hosting DEMAN Weekend specifically mentioned Aaron’s speech as having a tremendous impact on them. Aaron’s talk is going to stick with me forever. I feel incredibly lucky to have heard it.

Aaron has been a spectacular speaker and motivator on my behalf for three different programs, each with their own unique audience and challenge. Whether my own Neuro-Therapy company, or a group of San Diego based CEOs, or even some of the most world-renowned neurosurgeons working in gene and cell therapy, it did not matter. The audience was listening, engaged, and left the program thinking ‘I can and will do better in many aspects of my life. The informal Q&A adds wonderfully to the program itself and should not be missed.

I appreciated experiencing the recording of the session with Aaron Lazar. I was thunderstruck by what he did onstage. But it had a special place in my heart because of a good friend struggling with Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, another autoimmune disease. The road these people travel to even get to a point where they have a diagnosis should evaporate all hope. She would benefit greatly by hearing what Aaron had to say. I think it could change her life.
