Peoria Airport’s new international terminal will have a special name on it. It will be known as the Ray LaHood International Terminal when it is dedicated April 12th.
Karen Jensen, Chairwoman of the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria, says, “Secretary LaHood has done so much for central Illinois. He has been an earnest and humble public servant for more than a quarter of a century. It is our honor to recognize his career of public service by putting his name on this public building, a
building with ties not only to his hometown, but also his prestigious appointment as a U.S. Secretary of Transportation.”
The $11 million terminal includes a full-service Customs and Border Protection facility, as well as two additional dual-purpose gates for domestic or international travel. The cost of the 22,000-square-foot, two-story terminal will be covered by current passenger facility fees.
The current Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will speak at the April 12 ceremony, as well as the head of the FAA, Michael Huerta.
The event will be closed to the public.
