Former Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said the door is still open for him to enter the 2024 presidential race, according to a new report.
“However I can serve, I’m still trying to figure that out, but I’m not walking away,” Hogan told Bloomberg in an exclusive interview. “If I thought there was a path to success to win the race, then I just said I wouldn’t shut the door to that opportunity.”
Most states’ deadline to appear on the ballot is approaching soon — too soon, some election experts say — for a new candidate to hope to get on ballots at this stage.
Hogan told Bloomberg that his goal is to get the Republican Party “back on track” after the “embarrassing” ousting of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the speakership.
“It’s a train wreck,” said Hogan. “I mean, it’s embarrassing, and I think it’s terrible for the Republican Party.”
