The 2015 summit of the Rural Maryland Council in Annapolis at the end of December drew more than 230 people, according to a news release from the council.
The keynote speaker was Sheila Bair, president of Washington College and former chairman of the FDIC. Bair gained national prominence during the financial crisis of 2007-2008, and was twice named the second most powerful woman in the world by Forbes magazine. She is Washington College’s first female president and the author of several books, including “The Bullies of Wall Street.”
