People with ALS have a new option to treat the terminal neurological condition, thanks to a drug recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Funding for the drug’s trial came from the famous ALS Ice Bucket challenge, which was inspired by Pete Frates in 2014 and raised more than $200 million for research. Pete’s mother, Nancy Frates, and Dr. Sabrina Paganoni, principal investigator in the trial that led to the development of the new ALS drug, joined Jim Braude to talk about this latest development and what it could mean for patients.
