With Russia’s war with Ukraine showing little sign of ending, the stark reality for the 35 countries attending a summit of the so-called Coalition of the Willing in Paris, is that they’re waiting for Vladimir Putin to come to the table.

The countries present did promise military support for Ukraine to guarantee its security should a ceasefire be agreed, as Emmanuel Macron, who chaired the meeting, with Sir Keir Starmer joining remotely, accused Russia of delaying the peace process and trying to seize more Ukrainian territory.

Indeed, two people clearing mines were killed in Russia’s latest onslaught in northern Ukraine.
