George Yeo is one of Asia’s most respected geopolitical and economic thought leaders. A former Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Trade & Industry, Minister for Health, and Minister for Information and the Arts, he served in the Singapore Government for 23 years, helping shape the country’s international relationships during a period of extraordinary global economic growth and geopolitical change.
Today, Mr. Yeo is a Visiting Scholar at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore and the Founding Patron of its Asia Competitiveness Institute. He also serves as a Distinguished Non-resident Fellow at the Contemporary China and the World Centre at the University of Hong Kong, where his work focuses on geopolitics, international relations, and Asia’s evolving role in the global order.
From 2012 to 2021, Mr. Yeo was with Kerry Group in Hong Kong, serving as Chairman and Executive Director of Kerry Logistics Network from 2012 to 2019.
Before entering politics, Mr. Yeo served in the Singapore Armed Forces. Beginning his military career as a Signals Officer, he later transferred to the Air Force, where he became Chief of Staff–Air Staff and Director of Joint Operations and Planning in Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, attaining the rank of Brigadier-General.
Mr. Yeo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Engineering (Double First) from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar.
Throughout his career, Mr. Yeo has advised governments, multinational corporations, academic institutions, and global organizations on international affairs, governance, and economic strategy. He served on the Vatican’s Council for the Economy from 2014 to 2020 and continues to hold advisory and board positions with leading organizations, universities, and multinational companies across Asia, Europe, and North America, including the Berggruen Institute, Mitsubishi Corporation, MUFG, AIA Group, and Wilmar International.
