Former Florida Rep. Allen West defeated incumbent Jennifer Stoddard-Hajdu in the race to lead the Dallas County Republican Party.
West, a Garland resident who in 2022 ran unsuccessfully for Texas governor, received over 70% of the vote, a clear mandate from local Republican voters.
Before running for Texas governor, West was chairman of the Texas Republican Party. He mounted a campaign against Stoddard-Hajdu after Republican Lauren Davis dropped out of the race for family reasons.
Dallas County Republicans are trying to be more competitive against Democrats, who control nearly every aspect of county politics. Democrats control the entire Commissioners Court and all but two county seats in the Texas Legislature.
