John Stossel began his career as a consumer reporter criticizing business.  He changed his focus after concluding that government regulation hurts consumers more, which has been reflected in his TV specials.  "Stupid in America" suggested that the government's monopoly on education cheats kids, while "You Can't Say That" tackled touchy taboos such as senior citizen entitlement in the U.S., pregnancy discrimination laws, food irradiation, steroids, and more.  Stossel joined the legendary ABC News program 20/20 in 1981 as a correspondent and was named co-anchor in 2003; while there, he established himself as a fixture of investigative journalism, conducting in-depth reports on subjects ranging from government waste to parenting as well as producing shorter pieces debunking myths including the evils of "sweatshops" and price "gouging." His iconic "Give Me a Break" commentaries for the show took a skeptical look at issues such as censorship and government regulations.

The Jeopardy of Liberty in America

John Stossel of ABC News' 20/20 and author of Myth, Lies and Downright Stupidity talks about the benefits of individual freedom and free markets.  In his 30 year journey from a consumer reporter to his current job as ABC's in-house contrarian, Stossel learned that "businessmen aren't the bad guys after all."  In fact, today's entrepreneurs, often depicted in the media as robbers and polluters, are really "the heroes who make our lives better."
