From the time Brooks Robinson made his Major League Baseball debut in 1955 until he retired as a player in 1977, Brooks added a new dimension to the position he played.  Nicknamed "The Human Vacuum Cleaner," he is generally acclaimed as the greatest defensive third-baseman of all time. During his 23-year tenure, the Baltimore Orioles had the best record in all of baseball.  Brooks won 16 consecutive Gold Glove Awards during his career and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.  Today, he is a highly-acclaimed professional speaker, inspiring and helping organizations soar to new heights.

A Baseball Legend       

When he retired from the Baltimore Orioles, Brooks Robinson held several major league records including most hits, most games, most double plays and most seasons leading league in games. He played in 18 consecutive All-Star games, five Championships and four World Series.  In 1983, Brooks was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot with 91.88% of the votes. He was also elected to Major League Baseball's All Century Team, honoring the best 25 players in baseball during the 20th century.  In 2000, he received the distinguished Congressional Medal of Honor's Patriot Award.

Celebrated Humanitarian

In addition to his athletic achievements, Brooks is a distinguished philanthropist, participating in several community and civil projects.  A longtime supporter of Scouting, Brooks served for many years on the executive board of the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.  He was recognized for his accomplishments on and off of the field in 2006 when he received the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.  In 2007, Radio Tower Drive, a road in Pikesville, Maryland was renamed "Brooks Robinson Drive" in honor of Robinson's 70th birthday.
