Bentsen, Jr., Chair in Government and Business Relations at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, Austin, as well as directs the University of Texas Inequality Project, a research group concerned with measuring and explaining movements of inequality in wages and earnings and patterns of industrial change around the world.

Prior to entering academia, Galbraith served in several positions on the staff of the U.S. Congress, including Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee.  His latest book, The Predator State: How Conservatives Abandoned the Free Market and Why Liberals Should Too, examines the economic fundamentalism that pervaded public policy in the past administration and its devastating effects on the country and beyond.  Progressive and provocative, he is an unabashed critic of both political parties, continually challenging current economic orthodoxy and debunking conventional explanations.  Offering a cogent guide to the real political economy, Galbraith's elegant arguments, passionate exposition, and profound conclusions galvanize audiences and stimulate debate on the most important and thorniest economic issues of our time.
