A dynamic thought-leader and vanguard at many of the world’s leading financial institutions, Beatrice Weder di Mauro is universally hailed as a foremost authority on global economic policy.  Since June 2004, she has served on the German Council of Economic Experts, which advises the German government on economic policy and development, and is the first woman and non-German to ever do so.  She is also Professor of International Macroeconomics at the University of Mainz.  Prior to joining the German Council, Weder di Mauro worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank in Washington, DC, and at the OECD Development Center in Paris.

Weder di Mauro’s accomplishments have been widely praised and recognized including being named as a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum at Davos as well as the recipient of the Thomas Dehler Prize, awarded for contributions to the preservation and expansion of the liberal economic order in Europe and with global trading partners; she is not only the first woman to earn this prestigious honor but also is the youngest and first non-German to win the highly-coveted prize.
