Troy Aikman is one of the most successful quarterbacks in National Football League history. After being drafted number one in the NFL draft by the Cowboys in 1989, Troy led the team to three Super Bowl championships, played in four consecutive NFC championships, won six NFC east titles, and was the 10th rated lifetime passer going into the 2000 season. At the time of his retirement, he was the Cowboys' all-time leading passer and had the most wins by any quarterback in any decade. Troy was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December 2008.
Protecting and Promoting the Health and Future of America's Children
Troy's passion and commitment extends not only to football but also to the various charitable organizations in which he is active. The Troy Aikman Foundation was established in 1992 with the mission of providing financial support for the physical, psychological, social, and educational needs of children. A public charitable 501(c) 3 organization, the Foundation has since directed its emphasis to the construction of high-tech interactive playrooms in children's hospitals. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars towards Troy's stated goal that there is nothing more important than the health and well- being of children in our nation. In 1998, he was recognized for his work and received one of professional football's highest honors when he was named NFL man of the year.
